Summary

An army forty thousand strong is clamoring at the gates for human blood, and there is little hope of reinforcements。 The Sacred Kingdom’s strongest paladin, Remedios, leads the defense of the city, but even she cannot stem the tide on her own。 Despite the dire circumstances, the unimaginably powerful King of Darkness has refused to lend a hand for fear of depleting his magical energy right when he needs it to defeat Jaldabaoth once and for all。 Time is running out for the defenders if they can’t figure out a way to survive on their own。。。!

Good conclusion to the arc of the Holy Kingdom。 I really like the characters in this arc。 I also love how every resolves。 Very clever。

This review has been hidden because it contains spoilers。 To view it, click here。 Novel #13 wraps up nicely most of the open storylines of novel #12。 The Northern Holy Kingdom has been ravaged by the demon and demi-human forces。 After being defeated by the Demon Emperor Jaldabaoth, the Sorcerer King Ainz Ooal Gown falls to the Albion Hills and is presumed dead。 This book follows the struggle of the Paladin Order and the joint fractions of Southern and Northern Nobles in a futile attemp to retake the strongholds held by demi-humans and turn the tide of war in their favour, for Novel #13 wraps up nicely most of the open storylines of novel #12。 The Northern Holy Kingdom has been ravaged by the demon and demi-human forces。 After being defeated by the Demon Emperor Jaldabaoth, the Sorcerer King Ainz Ooal Gown falls to the Albion Hills and is presumed dead。 This book follows the struggle of the Paladin Order and the joint fractions of Southern and Northern Nobles in a futile attemp to retake the strongholds held by demi-humans and turn the tide of war in their favour, forced to admit defeat in the face of Jaldabaoth's overwhelming power。 This novel boasts some impressive battles, scheming, infiltration, interesting demi-human races, and it's a quick and fun read。 However, I've given it only three stars as it (imho) doesn't seem to bring anything truly unique to the series。 。。。more

Estou começando a entender o porque do autor ter anunciado o fim da obra, ele ta chegando no limite do que pode fazer com os personagens absurdos que ele criou。

There are a lot of questions I wanted to be answered to the point where I was very disappointed when I finished the book。 Hopefully, it will be answered by the next issue。 The book was generally good

。。。Lived up to the build-up of the last book, hence me tearing through the entire novel in a caffeine-fueled morning/afternoon。 The archer and Shizu's interactions were fun to read, and there was a good balance between showing Ainz flailing and everyone else (read: Demiurge's。。。) explanations of his awe-inspiring benefits。 There are still some scenes where I'm not sure if I'm interpreting the Guardian's read on events correctly through the lens of Ainz-the-incredibly-unreliable-narrator, but tha 。。。Lived up to the build-up of the last book, hence me tearing through the entire novel in a caffeine-fueled morning/afternoon。 The archer and Shizu's interactions were fun to read, and there was a good balance between showing Ainz flailing and everyone else (read: Demiurge's。。。) explanations of his awe-inspiring benefits。 There are still some scenes where I'm not sure if I'm interpreting the Guardian's read on events correctly through the lens of Ainz-the-incredibly-unreliable-narrator, but that's half the fun of these books at this point。 I think he really needed the break from Nazarick these past two books provided; he seemed much more willing to let down his guard a bit without the constant pressure of living up to his "children's" expectations so directly。 (Also, he is definitely willfully oblivious on certain things they're getting up to under his command。。。 the source of the parchment for higher-tiered spells being the biggest example brought to the forefront again in this novel。。。)Worst thing about this book is that now I'm going to have to find something new to fill my craving for OP villain protagonist fiction until the next books in this series are published。Note: I read an English translation of this series。 。。。more
